"Hi Mark – it was great to meet you last week
and can not thank you enough for your hard work…The
[Linwood Peel's Tribute to the] Drifters were amazing and you could tell
the audience LOVED them! Thank you again and I hope to work
with you again in the future."
--Louie Anchondo, The Actors' Fund, 2007
The Drifters are truly
unique in today's world of coming and going popular music
groups. Following their long career is like reading a history
of contemporary popular music. From their very first release
on Atlantic records, "There goes My Baby", they were bound
for stardom with a 2 million seller under their belts in their
first try. Over the next 10 years there were 29 additional
chart records (source: Billboard) accounting for nearly 20
million sales of singles and over 8 million albums in the
US alone. In fact (source: The Book of Lists), only the Beatles,
the Rolling Stones and the Bee Gees have sold more records
over a more sustained period of time.
They
have appeared in every major night club and concert hall in
the United States from Las Vegas to 10 sold out appearances
at New York's Madison Square Garden. They have literally toured
the entire world including a one month tour to the Far East
and were chosen to represent the United States for the great
Bicentennial Tour of Russia.
Mark Sonder Productions Presents A Tribute to The Drifters performw the greatest Drifter
hits of all time.
Although this Tribute Show has nothing to do with The Drifters or with the Elsbeary Hobbs Drifers, our lead, Linwood Peel, was the lead for The Drifters and the Elsbeary
Hobbs Drifters since 1992.
the Drifters during their greatest
years as a touring group performing for four presidents, the
US Constitution’s 200th Anniversary Good Will tour of
Russia, on all three national network TV stations, and throughout
the world. Hobbs also led the Drifters when they sold
out seven shows at Madison Square Garden over a three year
period and when they headlined Dick Clark’s 20th Anniversary
of Rock & Roll 42 City Tour.
Today, Linwood has united his former group members as Linwood Peel's Tribute to The Drifters to commemorate much of the great material to
which is still known, sung and covered world-wide. Not only does
the group perform many of the Drifters tunes that they were
noted for, but abridged potpourri of standard rock songs.
One
important reason for The Drifters success is their intimate
relationship with the greatest songwriters of their time and
the great Drifters hits were written by such song writing
legends as Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Doc Pomus, and Lieber
& Stoller.
Linwood Peel's Tribute to The Drifters blends a tasteful mixture of the Drifters million sellers
with contemporary standards, many in medley form
